|Enjoying a great book!|
In Writer's Workshop, our researchers worked diligently this week. We continued our research, note taking, and paragraph writing on our Explorer projects. (See Graphic Organizers below) By Friday, many students were ready to start creating their interactive maps which will tell the story of their explorers. When these maps are complete, we will share the maps online for all parents to interact with and enjoy.
We are nearing the end of our read aloud The Liberation of Gabriel King. We have watched our characters grow and change through their conflicts with the deep south, friendship, and racism in the early seventies. We have had wonderful discussions on how a character changes over the course of a story and we have looked at methods that an author uses to create mood and suspense.
By Friday, we had a chance to also try a few practice problems on the computers to prepare for the MEA testing for next week. See the schedule for 5th grade testing below.
