Researching together for essays
Happy Snowy Friday!
Enjoy your day off!

Most of our week in Writer's Workshop was spent on our persuasive essays. We have come to the conclusion paragraphs and are almost ready to edit/revise and put those final touches on our work. The students focused their work this week on finding quotes from professionals to support their thesis and make their argument that much more strong After finding these quotes, we worked on being sure to cite our sources.

In Reader's Workshop we focused on our read a-loud, The Liberation of Gabriel King. As we read, we worked on our inference skills together and individually in our own choice books. We also added "Author's Point of View" to our lessons. Students discussed how the point of view can change the tone of a book. The focus was on "first person" point of view and "third person limited" and "third person omniscient."

Students meet with their 8th grade buddies to share our Gift of Self projects and writing. We also had the opportunity to share our persuasive writing essays with our buddies. They helped the students go through an editing check list and improve their writing.
